Two updates made however the man identified at 6 as Alfred Phillips who was a Corporal is in fact an officer, so the photo has not been updated with his name.

My father John Arthur Morgan is number 23. I think John Poole ( known as Jack) is number 45 and Alfred Phillips is number 6.

My dad joined the Commandos from Beds & Herts on 23 July 1944 so this photo was taken after this date. John Poole (known as Jack) is 8th from left on the back row. 6th from left front row could be Alfred Philips. John Morgan is immediately behind John (Jack) Poole.

Latest photo of Ron Gower
Dad moved to Spain and sadly dies there on 4th September 1988.
I have tried to attach a photo from the time just before his death, but not sure how to. If you have an e-mail address I could send it then. (I did receive a mail recently, but have had some problems and cannot find it)
Regards
Paul Gower.

Jim Anderson
The marine on the left is my father Jim Anderson, he was from Upholland in Lancashire and joined as soon as he could, his biggest adventure and didn't want to miss it.
He was called swede because of his blonde hair and it got changed to Steve.
He passed in 2000, as with most veterans he didn't discuss the war with his family. It was only later in life he wanted to attend reunions but illness forbade this.

Additional names
The man tagged as Lattimer - bottom row far right - is my dad, but his name is Eustace John Smith. However, as a child he was known as Eustace John Dent.
The man in the black vest with the girl on his lap with ribbons in her hair is his stepfather, Mr. L. Dent, grandfather, known to all as Pop.
The girl on his lap would either be my fathers sister Queenie Dent (later Clark, the eldest and most probable) or Daphne (later Andrews, then Carter, the youngest).
