Sydney served from 9th Jan. 1943 to the 5th Jan. 1947. His Commando service was with 41RM Commando in NW Europe and 45RM Commando in the Far East post war.

41RM Commando was disbanded at Llwyngwrill (North Wales) on 20 February 1946. 45RM Commando was reorganised in the autumn of 1945 and retained in preparation for service in the Far East. 45RM Commando embarked for Hong Kong in January 1946.
