Enlisted Royal Marines Plymouth 1937. Trained in Scotland and Shanklin, Isle of Wight. Took part in the Dieppe raid spending many hours in the water before being rescued. Served with 40RM Commando during later operations as part of the 2nd Special Service Brigade.
