Sgt Frederick Birch

Frederick Birch, service no. 2931860, 2nd Bn Liverpool Scots, No.7 Commando and Layforce. Took part in the Bardia raid. Was part of a small group who, although not evacuated, managed to evade capture and escape from Crete after the German invasion. Rejoined the Middle East Commando and took part in Operation Flipper, the Rommel raid. Captured and imprisoned.
