No.4 Commando post Dieppe parade at Barassie Street School, Troon (2)
5th September 1942. Brigadier Robert Laycock and Lord Lovat inspect the Commando. Jimmy Dunning in his book The Fighting Fourth advises " Brig. Bob Laycock read out a congratulatory message from George V1, and all ranks of No.4 wore the Green Berets for the first time, although the Officers wore their Regimental headdress as the officer type green berets had not yet arrived"
This slightly better resolution version courtesy of Dareen Radford, gt nephew of Sgt Robert Radford (4 Cdo) replaces one provided earlier by Martin Edwards, grandson of Cpl. William Barnes No.4 Cdo. who is the Corporal pictured here on the extreme left and whom Laycock has just past.
