No.4 Commando post Dieppe parade at Barassie Street School, Troon (4)
5th September 1942. Brigadier Robert Laycock and Lord Lovat inspect the Commando. Jimmy Dunning in his book The Fighting Fourth advises " Brig. Bob Laycock read out a congratulatory message from George V1, and all ranks of No.4 wore the Green Berets for the first time, although the Officers wore their Regimental headdress as the officer type green berets had not yet arrived". One of a series of photos of this parade we now have in our gallery. This photo courtesy of Darren Radford, great nephew of Sgt Robert Radford, No.4 Cdo.
