James Dunning was one of the original volunteers for No.4 Commando. Served as a TSM in No 4 Commando before being commissioned in 1943. He became an instructor at the Commando Basic Training Centre, Achnacarry. As a regular soldier he served later in Palestine, the Korean War, Cyprus, and Suez. He retired from the army in 1958. Jimmy is the author of several books on the Commandos.
