Eric Buckmaster No 2 Cdo 5 troop adds this "Sgt Alex Mort I can remember very clearly, his face & rich Lancashire Accent . A likeable Man. He hailed from the Bolton area and was a Butcher by trade. If my memory is right he attended the Warrington Re-unions. 5 Troop were at one time stationed at Barletta in Italy for about a month or so and our task was to do Guard Duty at the Railway Station. (I was never quite sure of the purpose of this) the Front line was then way up country. Whilst there, we " acquired " 2 Sheep and it was decided to have a" Troop Dinner ". Tan Rudge arranged for Alex to deal with them for us, and then to prepare them for Cooking. Captain Larry Taylor sported some money out of the Troop Fund for Vino, and Alex joined us in return for his Services. A good time was had by all. It was one of those want to remember occasions"
