We know he was a CSM, and according to his Commando Service Certificate was the RSM at some point, however I believe this was just before disbanding."

Erika Garrett, whose great uncle was Pte Kenneth George Hellyer, has informed me that he is in this photo. Her mum has recognised him and she also has a copy of the same photo. He is second row down from the back, second from the left with another commandos arm resting on his shoulder. On the reverse of the photo that she has is written Keswick. Erika has informed me that the chapel may be Lake Road Chapel in Keswick. She sent me a modern photo of the chapel and I agree. After making enqs with the Minister and others in the area I can now confirm the location as outside Lake Road Chapel, Keswick.

My dad (George Harris) is in the 2nd row from the back - along from Kenneth Hellyer. Tanky Bryne is standing in front of the middle man at the back with the black peaked cap on - dad is to Tanky's right as we look at it. I think the two of them must have had a bet on to see who could wear their cap at the jauntiest angle.
