<br />
Private Urquhart was known as 'Bertie' to his family and 'Bobby' to his Commando comrades. These photos cover his whole army career from joining the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in 1939 to his re-joining 5 Troop 9 Commando after having recovered from injury in the Anzio campaign, mid March 1945. He was killed in action at Lake Comacchio on the 2nd April 1945. Included in this album is a resume of Pte Urquhart's military service written by his brother Donald<br />

This letter is dated 29th March 1945. He was killed in action 4 days later at Lake Comacchio. There are more pictures and details about him in our No.9 Cdo In Remembrance album. <br />

This letter was written after he had been injured during the fighting at Anzio. Pte Urquhart returned to his unit, 5 troop of No.9 Commando, mid March 1945, only to be killed in action days later on the 2nd April 1945. <br />

Army Form B.2089 completed on p.20 of his Soldiers Service and Pay Book. Pte. Urquhart was killed in action on the 2/4/45. His brother Donald states &quot; The only effects received by his father was his Argyll badge with tartan swatch and  '9 Commando' shoulder  flash&quot;.
