October 1942 - OCTU Sandhurst. Commissioned 2/Lt 8th Royal Scots. SS Brigade application suppressed.
Spring 1943 - Achnacarry.
June 1943 - Passed Officers course but remained as Officer Instructor (conversion of RM Assault Battalions to RM Commando Units)
January 1944 - Posted to 3 Commando, posted to 6 Troop as Section Commander
6 June 1944 - Wounded in sinking landing craft, returned to UK hospital
August 1944 - Reach 3 Commando Normandy during Operation Paddle, took over 2 Troop.
Aug-Dec 1944 - Returned to 6 Troop as Section Commander, New Forest jungle warfare training.
Dec 1944 - Jan 1945 - With 3 Commando to Battle of Bulge, Clearance of Roer Triangle of which Linne last objective.
February 1945 - Maas. Blitterswick
23 March 1945 - night crossing Rhine to capture Wesel
26 March 1945 - hit by shell burst while stalking snipers.
Late April 1945 - returned to 3 Commando at Neustadt
June 1945 - 3 Commando returns to UK. Promoted Captain Senior Liaison Officer by Peter Young at 1 Commando HQ East Grinstead
Autumn 1945 - Returned to Royal Scots
1946 - Transferred to Indian Army 8/10 Baluch Regiment as Company Commander in Waziristan till demob December 1946.
