Educated Leicester Road Council School. Employed prior to enlistment at Harrison and Co. Ltd., Manchester. Enlisted Royal Marines 19 October 1943. Trade on enlistment Engineer.
19.12.1943 RM Training Group.
12.04.1944 RM Commando.
07.06.1944 reported missing later confirmed prisoner of war captured Cherbourg, France.
16.04.1945 escaped from captivity to allied lines.
14.06.1945 to 11 June 1946 resumed operational service with RM Commando.
12.06.1946 to 05.10.1946 Portsmouth Division.
05.10.1946 released from service Class 'A'.

Notes
*Mne. Worsley states on his liberation report that he was captured at Cherboug. 45RM were not in this area but his son Steve notes that Cabourg was in their area of operations so possibly a spelling mistake. His photo appears in 45RM Commando 'E' Troop which has disputed dates of when the image was taken.
