Captain Blake was awarded the Military Cross for his gallantry and leadership during operations in Italy. He was killed in action during the an assault on the island of Brac. There is an inscription in his honour on the back of the lectern in St Faiths, Havant, and more about his life can be read here: St Faiths Havant
