The commando on the left looks like Lieutenant Leopold Hulot, a citizen of France, who served as 2 i/c of No.10 Commando 8 troop, and the French troop of No 4 Commando in WW2. Post war in 1948 he died of wounds during French operations in Indo China.

Capt. Beddall identified. His son Richard adds “My father with Vicomte Arthur De Jonge who was the Commanding Officer of the Belgian french-speaking Commandos. My father spoke French and as a result was transferred to be with the French-speaking Belgians. He remained a lifelong friend of Vicomte de Jonge who I remember as being a most charming man.

The original id in the first comments are indeed wrong as by the date stated July 1944 Capt. Grewcock was dead. The Combined Ops website also has a photo of Capt Grewcock and this is not him. However on the date suggested, is that not Lt Col Peter...
The original id in the first comments are indeed wrong as by the date stated July 1944 Capt. Grewcock was dead. The Combined Ops website also has a photo of Capt Grewcock and this is not him. However on the date suggested, is that not Lt Col Peter Young, 5th from the left. If so then this photo has to be before the 2nd October 1944 as on that date he was on way to Malta and then onward to operations in the Far East with 3rd Special Service Bde.
