Photo from the collection of Thomas Cyril Sharpe No 4 Cdo & 1 SS/Cdo Bde., courtesy of his son in law Paul Briggs who adds "Cyril told us that he very nearly died disembarking - he dropped into a water-filled shell hole that was 6 feet deep (Cyril was 5 ft 9 inches and carrying a very heavy pack and Tommy-gun). Someone grabbed him by the scruff of the neck, hauling him out of the shell hole."
