Lt. Gen. Sir Frank Noel Mason-Macfarlane CB, DSO, MC*, was Governor of Gibraltar from May 1942 until 1944. No.9 Cdo were in Gibraltar from the end of 1942 until March 1943 when the Commando returned to the UK.
