No.9 Commando troop at Criccieth circa 1941

David adds "My father Thomas Taylor came to Criccieth in March 1941 with No.9 Commando. He was billeted with a local family as indeed so were the other commandos. During his time in Criccieth a popular meeting place was the Blue China tea shop owned by the Cadwalader family. There he met one of the Cadwalader girls Margaret ( Peggy ) and they started courting. Tom was sent on the Commando training course to Scotland. On his return he found he had been selected for officer training. In January 1942 he married Peggy and then was posted to Burma. They were not reunited until November 1945. At least one of the Commandos died during their time in Criccieth, and several romances blossomed."
