Lt Angus Ferguson

This photo was taken in Drama, Greece, circa November 1944 when aged 20 years old and whilst attached to No 9 Commando from the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment). Lt Ferguson served in 2 Troop, No 9 Commando. Just prior to the Army Commandos being disbanded at the end of the war he moved to No 3 Commando , after which he returned to the 2nd Bn Black Watch in India. His father also served in the 2nd Bn during WW1. Angus Ferguson was later commissioned into The Parachute regiment, serving in 15 Scottish) PARA (TA) until 1951. He married, first, Frances Waugh of Bothwell, in 1951; they lived in Nigeria, where he practised as a solicitor, until her death there in 1973. He was appointed CBE in 1967 for service to British interests in Nigeria. He remarried, to Shirley de Beaux of Perth, Western Australia, in 1974; she died in Perth in January 1994. Angus and Frances had two children - Gregor, who served in the TA with 10 PARA(V) and who now lives in Sydney, Australia; and Mary Bates, who live with her husband in Kingston upon Thames. Angus had two grandchildren and two great grand children.
