No.9 Commando 3 Troop - Mortar section
No.9 Commando 3 Troop Rear row, 5th from right, Capt David Balls - KIA 19/3/44, at Anzio. Rear row, 2nd from right, Harold Barton, MM.
See individual photo of David in the main No.9 Commando album. Neil tells me that at Anzio 3 troop were used as an assault troop, the heavy weapons being provided by infantry units
**update 16/3/10 by Pete R. This photo was a better quality image of one we already had so I have replaced it here. There were no details of who provided the original photo. The photo and all the information on here was provided by Neil Livinsgtone

Commando front row 2nd from right.
I believe the commando in the front row 2nd from the right is my grandfather Robert Griffin, who was from Middlesbrough. I would be really pleased if this could be confirmed.
Many thanks
Chris
