7897490 Trooper Harry Rose (shirtless 3rd row up) was attached to No.5 Commando from the 51st Royal Tank Regiment. He was returned to unit in 1941 and served as Lance Corporal with the 51st R.T.R. throughout their operations in North Africa and Italy.

No.5 Commando were formed at Bridlington in 1940.
Captain J.D.Ellerbeck, 51st R.T.R. was the first CO of 5 Troop (possibly in this photo). He did not remain with the Commando and in 1945 he was awarded the M.C.[view photo] .
