Lt Col Charles J. B. Pollitt, OBE, MC, No.5 Commando
Commissioned into 4th Battalion, The Borders Regt, Charles Jordan Bellingham Pollitt volunteered for the Commandos and was posted to No.1 Commando. A popular officer he became second in command until posted to No.5 Commando to succeed Lt Col D. Shaw.
Lt Col Pollitt was badly wounded in the knee in the Battle for Hill 170.
