Notes
Donald Gilchrist is the officer wearing the tartan trews. The photo originally showed 'G' troop. Photo courtesy of Ray Brooks, son of Sgt Ernie Brooks 4 Cdo.
Update 29/8/11 from Pete R. "I spoke with Major Jimmy Dunning today regarding this photo. He advises me that this would have been in late 1942 or 1943 as Donald Gilchrist is in there. By this time the Commando had already changed from 10 troops to 6 troops 'A' - 'F' "
Update 31/8/11 from Pete R. Jimmy Dunning identifies Hutchison Burt as the officer on Donald Gilchrist's left. He was later promoted Captain and awarded the Military Cross. On Gilchrist's right is Sgt. Major Heaynes He was a boxer and fought for No.4 Cdo. in the lightweight category (scorecard from one match is on our site), alongside him is Sgt. Woodward
Update from Stephane: "After Lieut. Burt are Sgt Mercer, Sgt Harris, Cpl Dodds, L/Cpl Redman, L/Cpl Jackson, L/Cpl Fletcher" and "also included are Alan Coote, John Skerry, Harvey O'Hara"

He is stood in row 2 (first standing row) immediately behind and between the two seated officers. He has a big smile and wearing the RA cap badge.
Now I know he was in E Troop, hopefully I'll be able to find more photographs of him.
He was seriously wounded at Ranville (Pegasus Bridge) on D Day, which ended his military career.
