Photo courtesy of his daughter Isabella Murray who adds "My father served with No 4 Commando and went ashore on Sword Beach on DDay. He was seriously injured in the battle for Caen on June 20th-27th. He was brought home to Blackburn Infirmary and lost the sight in his right eye as a result of the injury. When he was discharged he was involved in training troops for for action in Holland. He was demobbed in 1946 as Sgt in the Royal Scots Fusiliers"
