Liz adds "My father was extremely proud of being a member of the Commando Association having joined it on 23rd July 1944 from the hertfordshire Regiment. He made many friends and he wore his commando tie, blazer badge and dagger pin on most occasions, including his Golden Wedding and his funeral."

John was attached to No.3 Commando on the 23/7/44 from the Hertfordshire Regiment.
