Derrick served in the Durham Light Infantry and was attached to No. 3 Commando 3 February 1945. Post war he served in the Merchant Navy. Photo courtesy of his sons Clive and Ian who add "Dad holding rifle with Johnnie, Paddy and Gordie which could be my father as he came from Newcastle. It was taken in Brugge 4th May 1945 after he was wounded 24 March 1945."
