Fusilier Sydney Lamkin, a Metropolitan Police War Reservist, volunteered for the Commandos and was part of the 1st Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre) at Achnacarry. He was attached to No.2Commando and served in the Heavy Weapons Troop. In 1939 he was residing with his wife Irene at 66 Park Road, London N8. Post war member of the Commando Association.
His Parachute Badge looks similar to that worn on Best Blues as it has a black or dark blue background and the wings appear to be gold in colour. It might also indicate that he had been attached to a Special Unit who wore this to show that distinction.
