Update from Niall Brannigan:
Maj-Gen R. G. Sturges was then the GOC Special Service Group (administratively in charge of Brigadier Tom Churchill’s No. 2 Special Service Brigade, but operationally, while on Vis, they belonged to SOE’s Force 133 [renamed Force 266 in Mar '44]). Sturges visited Vis Island 4-6 Jul 44. On his first day, he inspected No. 43 Commando at their Podselje HQ, and on the 5th, he inspected No. 40 Commando at their HQ in the morning, and then in the afternoon, the entire Brigade formed up on the parade ground (a.k.a. Gunner’s football pitch) for a review and march past. On the 6th, he inspected No. 2 Commando at their HQ, and then departed the island in the afternoon.
