Photo courtesy of his son and namesake Tom Harper who adds "My Father was originally RAFVR for 11 months and I have a letter from the Secretary of State for Air, Archibald Sinclair wishing him well in his new service I think this is when he joined the 2 Commando. When he left 2 Commando his main Regiment was the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders, but he went into the Royal Military Police serving in Vienna then Klagenfurt (where I was born) as part of the occupying force. He then went to Accra in the Gold Coast (now Ghana) as part of the West African Frontier force, then back with the QOCH before going out to Aden. Later he became a Civil Defence Instructor in Haverigg Cumberland. In September 1961 he took early release. His final rank attained was Staff Segeant."
