John Carpenter No.2 Commando 5 troop.
Eric Buckmaster of 5 troop recalls "John's father was a Brigadier, and he offered to arrange a Commission for him. However John wanted to make his own way, and elected to join the ranks with us. He was towards the end badly wounded in the shoulder by a bazooka shell, which fortunately did not explode. Post War we understood that he had gone to Rhodesia with his mother."
