Temporary Captain Robert Edgley volunteered for the Commandos in 1944 whilst serving in the Royal Artillery. After selection he was attached to No.2 Commando relinquishing his temorary rank as required [1].
24 August 1944 Royal Artillery to Royal Sussex Regiment, retaining seniority [2].
17 April 1945, War Substantive Lieutenant, No.2 Commando, wounded and reported as dangerously ill with a mortar fragment wound to his chest, during operations at Lake Comacchio. Evacuated from hospital at Bari, Italy, to hospital in UK [1][3][3a].
Post war worked and resided in Sussex [4].
