This newspaper cutting describes a tournament that took place at the Town Hall in Lockerbie and was in aid of the Air Training Corps Welfare Fund. Commandos represented the towns of Lockerbie and Moffat for the contest. Many would later take part in Operation Chariot at St Nazaire
This tournament is recorded in the No.2 Commando War Diary as follows: Place: Dumfries ; Date: 31 July 1941; Text: Inter Troop Boxing at Lockerbie extremely successful

7. Pte Cunningham (there were 3 x Cunninghams' in No.2 Cdo., one being L/Cpl. H.P. CUNNINGHAM King’s Regt. of 4 troop No.2 Cdo - K.I.A. at St. Nazaire, 28-3-42. Henry was age 22.)
14. Cpl. Prescott (likley to be Jim Prescott of No.2 Cdo. 6 troop. He got back from St Nazaire and later became TSM of 6 troop. There are several photos of him in the gallery)
