No.12 Commando 'D' troop Southampton June '42

Update from Barry Wales "The photo is D troop, No 12 Cdo taken at Southampton in July,1942. My father, Harry Wales, is in the second row from the back on the extreme left. He is wearing the head gear of the Border Regiment. They were billeted around Netley, and used a sports club for training. Possibly the building behind them."

4th/top (12 men): 1-7. nk; 8. Pte.Arthur Baseley; 9-12. n/k
3rd (12 men): 1. Harry Wales; 2-12. n/k
2nd (13 men): 1-8. n/k; 9. Pte Kenneth Darlington; 10-13. n/k
1st/front (11 men seated): 1-5. n/k; 6. Captain F. W. 'Ted' Fynn; 7. L. Douglas Cotton Minchin; 8-10. n/k; 11. Harry Manns.
nb. Captain Francis West 'Ted' Fynn later awarded the Military Cross (LG/25Mar1943) and became Commanding Officer No.2 Commando.
3605415 Pte Kenneth Carr Darlington later awarded the Military Medal (LG/25Mar1943) and attached to 2 SBS

I recognise my father Arthur Baseley in this photo. He is in the back row. 5th man in from right to left. I am not 100% sure but I believe the man to his right is Jack Cox. This must have been taken before they went to Achnaccary
