Dougie Martin
No.11 Commando. Photo courtesy of his son Doug who adds this about his father: "He trained on Arran and was billeted in the Post Office. He served with the 8th Army in Egypt and then Palestine until the end of the war with Royal Corps of Signals within the 51st Highland Div. I believe he was on the back-up team for Operation Flipper and was on the assault against the Vichy French after which the 11th was disbanded. My dad passed away in 1996 and I know he went to the 50th Reunion in Blackpool not long before he died. It was something he always remembered and although he never really spoke of his wartime record, as most don't, he did wear his 'green beret' and black hackle with pride."
