W. Bischoff and Jan van Woerden
Photo courtesy of Jack Bakker and the Dutch Commando Museum. Jack adds the following :
" On the right is Jan van Woerden. As you can see on his upper sleeve, they were attached to No 12 Commando. This happened on the 22nd of March 1942. This date has been established as the date on which the Dutch Commandos were officially formed. They were with different Commandos before they went to Achnacarry. After Achnacarry they went back to the Commando they came from and when enough Dutchies had done Achnacarry, No 2 Dutch Troop was formed. On the left, wearing the helmet, is W Bischoff. I saw a photo today on which the two man have switched places and on the back his name is written. I will let know that name"
Pieter J.A. van Ooststroom adds "Jan (J.C) van Woerden was my Commander at the Korps Commando Troepen in Roosendaal. The Netherlands in 1967-1968. Lt.Col Van Woerden died in 1992. He was the Commander of the KCT from 1965 until 1971."
