10 (IA) Cdo. 2 (Dutch) troop reinforcements on way to Holland 26 April 1945 (1)
Photo courtesy of the Dutch Commando Museum and Jack Bakker who adds, "This is a photo of the so called First Reinforcement on their way to Holland. They were recruited in the South of Holland after this was liberated and went to Achnacarry from November 1944 until January 1945. On this photo C.P. Valentijn is recognised by his daughter Carla as being the man on the right looking into the camera and holding a cigarette. The photo was taken on board of a ship that took them to Holland."
I recognise my father as the commando at the bottom righthand corner, looking towards the camera. My son now owns the very same beret as on this photo! It was given to him by commando veteran Jan Lempens during the funeral service!
