L/Cpl Marcel Mairesse
Marcel Mairesse, after completing the Campaign of Libya with a unit of the French Free Forces, joined the Belgian Forces and was a volunteer for the first contingent of Belgian Commandos in August 1942. Marcel qualified and Passed Out as a commando on the first Belgian training course in Achnacarry on 03 September 1942.
Seriously injured during a night engagement, two kilometers inside the German lines near San Pietro on 20 Dec 1943, Marcel Mairesse Died from Wounds aged 27 on 21 December 1943.
Remembered with Honour in Commonwealth War Graves Commission
