Stanley Roast MM

11268880 Gunner Stanley Albert ROAST, Royal Regiment of Artillery (attd. Special Service Troops) No.1 Commando. Awarded the Military Medal for his gallantry on 31st January 1945 at Hill 170, near Kangaw.

Photo found on forum posted by his Granddaughter Angela Park who adds "My Grandfather was Stanley Roast he served in No1 Commando, during WW2 he spent time in Egypt,India and Burma where he won the MM on Hill 170.I believe he never really talked about what he had been through although before my Grandmother died 15 years ago she managed to tell me where he had served. Unfortunately he died in 1974 before i was born which makes me want to find out all i can about him."
