Operation Deepcut Sep 1941-No1 Section of 5 Troop No1 Commando.
Idris Jones stated that 5 Troop were split up in to two sections No's 1 & 2. No1 Section is shown in this photo and was commanded by Lt Scaramanga and landed as planned at St Vasst Bay where they encountered a German Bicycle patrol which they shot up. However the Germans did manage to return fire and wounded two men, Idris stated :
"Two men were wounded from this party, one was Pte O'Shea (position 5) from Hollywell, cannot recall the other man, the upper band of my rifle was ripped by a bullet!"

My father was also involed operation Torch in North Africa.
