6 September 1966 joined Royal Marines (RM 24881); 1968 posted 7 Troop 'M' Company, 42 Commando RM; deployed Singapore, Malaya, and Australia; July 1969 returned to UK and posted 5 Troop 'F' Company, 41 Commando RM at Bickleigh; 1969/70 two tours of duty in Northern Ireland; deployed to Malta (Q.M's Department); 1974 returned to UK then to R.M.R London initially as the storeman but subsequently took over some of the training with the detachment. Later temporarily tasked as Staff Instructor for the R.M.R Small Boat Raiding Squadron. 1975 left the Armed Forces. Joined the Fire Service.
