Captain Ralph Parkinson-Cumine MC
This photo was cropped from the Commando Officers and Instructors Achnacarry photo in our WW2 Commando Training album. The photo is in the book Castle Commando by Donald Gilchrist. The book by W.G.Jenkins DSO called Commando Subaltern at War was dedicated to him and there are numerous references to him included.
During WW2 Lt.Ralph Parkinson-Cumine became 'E' Troop Commander of 43 RM Commando, and was wounded at Argenta. His citation for the award of the Military Cross states " For gallantry, zeal, and skill during the attack on Sarande and the seizure of the island of Solta. L.G.3.4.45".
After WW2 whilst a Captain with B Troop 41 Ind. RM Cdo. he was killed in action in Korea. His body was never found and he was pronounced "Missing presumed killed".

Remembered with honour on the Commonwealth Memorial at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery, Pusana Memorial, and also at St. Annes Church, Killough, Down
There is an entry with his name on Page 5 in the UK Book of Remembrance held at the National Army Museum
