Photos and information courtesy of Mark Holding, Treasurer Nottingham Branch The Parachute Regimental Association who adds "Cromwell Lock memorial event on the 25th of September went very well. Nottingham and Newark Branch members arrived by the memorial from around 3:15 PM for a 4:00 PM start. This years event was also attended by the Bishp of Southwell, Paul Butler and the new Reverend of St Giles Church Cromwell, Rev Christine Butler. Colonel (Retired) John Tinsley read out the Airborne Prayer and the names of the members of 131 Para Squadron who were killed on the night time exercise in 1975. Stuart McNaire, the National Parachute Regimental Association bugle player, played the last post. Members of Nottingham and Newark Branches laid wreaths at the memorial. After the memorial a buffet was laid on at the house of one of the Newark Branch members, followed by a Church service at St Giles Church at 6:00 PM. We will keep up with the annual memorial for as long as we have Branch members that can attend. It will only be two more years until the 40th Anniversary. Hopefully that event will see members of the Parachute and Commando Engineers in attendance, as they are always welcome to stand along side us every year."
