LCpl Robert Cockin No.2 Cdo. 4 tp. and others in Stalag VIIIb Lamsdorf 1944
LCpl Robert Cockin took part in Operation Chariot, the raid at St Nazaire 28 March 1942. He embarked on Motor Launch ML 267 which was hit by enemy fire and sank. Eight of the 11 Commandos on board and all bar five of the RN crew were killed.
LCpl. Cockin was reported missing but later found to have been wounded , taken prisoner, and transported to Stalag 344 at Lamsdorf, Poland. Read more in the main archive entry in his name.
