Update 28/1/12 by Pete R. "Ron Wright believes the officer is his father, Henry Walter Wright (known as Bill) who at the time was a Lieutenant in No.3 Commando in 1942."
The shoulder patch on the Commando on the left as you view the picture shows 3 Commando

My father, Trooper Roger Hilton 3 Commando is the left hand one of the two with glasses about half way back. He was captured on Yellow 2 at Dieppe and any information about others captured with him, and their journey to Silesia as his letters are to be published would be appreciated. Thanks, very useful site

Officer at the ready
Hi Guys.
Anyone know who this officer is at the front?
I believe it is H.W. Wright!! (( Known as Bill )) If so then this would be 3 Commando or it could be 8 Commando.
