On the CVA Facebook page, Roger Phillips wrote, ' like my father Alfred Phillips 6th from left on front row'. Sorry if this is not accurate.

Photo updated
Two updates from the numbers on the numbered version made, however the man identified as Alfred Phillips (who was a Corporal) is in fact an officer, so the photo has not been updated with his name without further id.

My father John Arthur Morgan is number 23. I think John Poole ( known as Jack) is number 45 and Alfred Phillips is number 6.

My dad joined the Commandos from Beds & Herts on 23 July 1944 so this photo was taken after this date. John Poole (known as Jack) is 8th from left on the back row. 6th from left front row could be Alfred Philips. John Morgan is immediately behind John (Jack) Poole.

Latest photo of Ron Gower
Dad moved to Spain and sadly dies there on 4th September 1988.
I have tried to attach a photo from the time just before his death, but not sure how to. If you have an e-mail address I could send it then. (I did receive a mail recently, but have had some problems and cannot find it)
Regards
Paul Gower.

No. 55 is my father, John Ellis Hawksworth, Irish Guards s/n 2722253. He is mentioned several times (although our surname is constantly mis-spelled) in the No.3 Commando war diaries after D-day (http://www.pegasusarchive.org/normandy/war_3cdo2.htm) until he was wounded in action on 18/08/1944.
