LCpl. Alan Carlisle was killed and Eric Spiers, who was at his side, was wounded* during operations at Vaagso on 27 December 1941. Sgt Eric Spiers was later killed at Normandy on 11 June 1944.

Buried at sea and remembered with honour on the Brookwood Memorial.

Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment and No 3 Commando
who died at Normandy, France on 11 June 1944 aged 25
Remembered with honour at Ranville War Cemetery.
