LSgt. Thomas Whawell 'Whay' Campion
At the end of the war Whay Campion was very ill with tuberculosis. He moved to a remote hut in Snowdonia, raised sheep, and recovered from his illness. He met and married his wife Dorothy and became a well respected mountain guide at Capel Curig. Photo courtesy of his son Andy Campion. Extract from Commando Association newsletter 10 March 1950.
Cpl. T. W. Campion (11 and 9 Cdos) of "Hofan", Bettws-y-Coed, N. Wales, having returned in October from the Arctic is now getting ready for a mountaineering expedition to the far North of Norway. Climbing one unclimbed peak on the Sweden/Finland border and the collecting of data on plant and animal life are amongst the objects of the trip."
