<br />
14701610 Fusilier Hayes enlisted into the Lancashire Fusiliers in 1942. He volunteered for the Commandos and was attached No.9 Commando. Active service included Salerno (Operation Avalanche) and Lake Comacchio (Operation Roast). Post war relocated to Heysham in Lancashire where he was employed by Shell in their refinery facility there for the remainder of his working life.<br />

<br />
14376191 Fusilier Richardson enlisted 3 December 1942 and was posted to 69 Primary Training Wing. Initially served in the Royal Artillery before transferring to the Royal Fusiliers in 1943. Deployed overseas March 1944 for operations with the British North African Force.<br />
Volunteered for and attached to No.9 Commando on 13 November 1944 operating in Italy and the Adriatic as part of the Central Mediterranean Force. 13-20 January 1945 admitted to 93 General Hospital at Barletta, Italy. Rejoined No.9 Commando 21 January 1945. Remained with No.9 Commando until returning to the UK on 26 June 1945. Posted No.2 Commando 9 August 1945. Permanently attached to 2/4 Essex Regiment 26 November 1945 before transferring to The Buffs and posted to the Middle East Force from February 1946, returning to the UK April 1947. Released to Royal Army Reserve 12 August 1947. <br />

Son of Mrs. M. Wade of Hullbridge, Essex. <br />
His name is amongst others on a Marble Roll of Honour on Monte Ornito itself.<i><br />
<br />
Note. A Memorial Hall in Hullbridge near Hockley was dedicated to Lance Sergeant Wade and his fellow Commandos in 1946 and named the Leonard Wade Memorial Club. Mrs.Laycock, wife of Maj. Gen. R.E.
