Shortly after 0715hrs a Viking armoured personnel carrier was involved in an explosion west of Lashkar Gah in Helmand Province, injuring three other personnel and disabling the vehicle. As Corporal Deering approached the stricken vehicle to assess the damage, a second explosion occurred, killing Cpl. Deering instantly
