09.1943 Salerno - RM Corporal on HM LCG(L) 2. Mentioned in Dispatches.
06.1944 Normandy - aboard No 18 on the Trout Line.
11.1944 Walcheren - aboard LCS(L) 252 when the craft was sunk.
01.1945 posted to 3 Commando Brigade in India before joining 'X' Troop of 44RM Commando in the Arakan campaign.
Citation for MID
H.M.L.C.G. 2
This craft had an engagement with a Coastal Defence Battery of 76 and 88 mm guns at 1106, 9th September 1943 in the Gulf of Salerno. The action lasted until 1115 by which time there was no reply from the enemy who had, however, scored numerous hits on the craft. Cpl. Tebble was Captain of 'B' Gun and the high rate of fire and steadiness of the crew while under fire and after 3 of the crew had been severely injured was due very largely to the coolness, determination, and excellent example of this Marine.
