Hello,
I don't think so this is Lt Mercer-Wilson.
He was killed in action on D.Day, and this photo could be taken in Belgium or Netherlands, seeing the name on the shop, and the denison wear by Colonel DAWSON.

I think this may be Flushing as some are sporting, I think, german pins in their berets ... as in another photo in the gallery.
I recognise the man, 5th from the right (sitting) and I think my dad, George Francis Harris, may be 3rd from the left, at the back ... both from No.4

Photo replaced with higher res version
This replaces lesser resolution identical copies sent in by (a)Candice Moore "My Grandad, Leslie Finnis, in the centre with the lads in Flushing"; and (b)Leslie 'Ken' Fosberry No 4 Cdo. who adds that they were on a captured ship in the dry dock at Flushing; Sharon Keagy identifies her uncle as "the very young man 3rd from the right back row - Lewis John Jones (joined at 18, 20yrs old here)"; Ann Oakes-Odger MBE identifies her father L/Cpl William Henry Oakes front row with moustache holding the wheel; Eileen Harris believes Tanky Byrne is front right wearing a beret slightly behind the man holding the buoyancy aid.

My grandfather, Joe Spicer, bottom row, second from the right. We attended the 70th anniversary commemoration at flushing with him on 1 Nov this year! He has a very similar picture to this one . A copy of it is in the fighting forth book.

I think no. 258 is my father, Ernest Arthur Paget, who died in South Africa in 1998. He was born in Bristol. After serving in No. 4 Commando he was in the Royal Welch Fusiliers.
